Minister of Works, Engineer David Umahi, has lauded Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for his unwavering commitment to the actualisation of the ongoing Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway project.

Umahi, who was accompanied by the Minister of State for Works, Barrister Bello Goronyo, gave the commendation during an inspection of the road project at Gulumbe.

He praised Governor Idris for being a “key playmaker” in the project’s success from flag-off to its current stage, noting his contributions to agricultural growth, infrastructure development, and the welfare of Kebbi citizens.

The Minister also appreciated the Governor for supporting security agencies with vehicles to enhance safety along the project corridor.

However, only those with verified bank accounts would be paid, to ensure transparency and accountability.

He highlighted that the project had received the highest sectoral allocation of over ₦1.8 trillion, describing President Tinubu as “a courageous leader who keeps his promises.”

In his remarks, Minister of State for Works, Barrister Goronyo, applauded Umahi’s dedication to national service and stressed the immeasurable socio-economic benefits the superhighway would bring to Nigeria and other African countries.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North-West), Alhaji Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, praised President Tinubu, Umahi, Goronyo, and Governor Idris for driving the project to reality.

He said the initiative reflected the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which, according to him, is transforming Nigeria.

Representing Governor Idris, Kebbi State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Abdullahi Umar Faruk, expressed delight at the pace of work on the superhighway.

He affirmed Kebbi’s position as the highest beneficiary of the project and pledged continued support to ensure its successful completion.
