The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has pledged continued collaboration on initiatives that promote socio-economic growth, education, health, environmental protection, and cultural advancement across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The assurance was given by the Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Mamman Mike Osuman, during a courtesy visit to Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
Alhaji Mamman Osuman said the delegation was in Kebbi State to express condolences to the government and people of the state over the death of Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami, the Emir of Zuru (Gomo II). A minute of silence was observed, followed by prayers for the late Emir, asking Almighty God to grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
The ACF chairman also revealed that preparations for the Forum’s 25th Anniversary celebration are well underway. He said committees have been set up and are working diligently to ensure the success of the event, tentatively scheduled for the third week of November 2025.
With the 2027 general elections approaching, Alhaji Mamman Osuman issued a clarion call to citizens aged 18 and above to participate in the democratic process by registering with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and voting in the elections.
He further commended Governor Idris for his administration’s strategic efforts to curb insecurity, especially the fight against banditry and the menace of ‘Lakurawa’ (notorious local gangs), encouraging the governor to sustain the momentum.
In his response, Governor Nasir Idris expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the ACF. He said his government remains focused on securing lives and property in the state.
Governor Idris also highlighted key achievements of his administration, including:
Free education from primary to tertiary levels
Distribution of free fertilizer for both rainy and dry season farming
Ongoing construction and renovation of roads, schools, and healthcare facilities across the state.
He emphasized that the welfare of the people remains the top priority of his government.
