The Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the National Universities Commission (NUC), the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration to improve the implementation of the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) nationwide.
The renewed partnership is aimed at bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry practice by providing students with quality workplace exposure that builds practical skills, technical competence, professional ethics, innovation and entrepreneurial capacity.
The institutions also agreed to deepen collaboration in key areas, including the integration of student registration through institutional portals, the digitalisation of SIWES processes to enhance programme efficiency, and the prompt payment of students’ SIWES allowances to ease transportation and other training-related expenses.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to reposition SIWES as a vital platform for producing industry-ready graduates and strengthening Nigeria’s human capital development to support sustainable economic growth.
