The Gombe State Commissioner for Education, Associate Professor Aishatu Umar Maigari, has assumed duty with a commitment to consolidate ongoing reforms and strengthen the delivery of quality education across the state.
Speaking after resuming office at the Ministry of Education headquarters in Gombe, Associate Professor Maigari said the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya had made significant investments in the education sector through policies and reforms aimed at improving learning outcomes.
She pledged to sustain the implementation of programmes designed to enhance the quality of education, including teacher capacity development, skills acquisition initiatives, school nutrition programmes and other interventions targeted at improving the overall education system.
The Commissioner expressed appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the confidence reposed in her, assuring that she would build on the achievements already recorded in the sector.
Associate Professor Maigari also called on staff of the ministry to remain committed and support the government’s education policies and programmes to ensure the continued development of the sector.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Abubakar Hassan, said the Commissioner’s appointment and redeployment reflected her vast experience and proven track record in the education sector.
He assured her of the ministry’s loyalty and cooperation in achieving the administration’s education goals.
The event was attended by Executive Chairpersons of boards and agencies under the Ministry of Education, the Coordinator of the AGILE Project and other stakeholders, who congratulated the Commissioner and pledged their support for the successful implementation of government policies in the sector.
