The leadership of the Nigeria Library Association (NLA) has paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, ahead of the Association’s National Conference currently taking place in Minna.
The delegation, led by the National President of the Association, Dr. Umar Lawal, was received at the Government House by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, who represented Governor Bago.
Dr. Lawal, accompanied by the Chairman of the NLA Niger State Chapter, Dr. Musa Baba Adamu, expressed appreciation to the Niger State Government for its support in hosting the conference and for creating an enabling environment for its successful conduct.
He said the visit was to formally thank the state government for its commitment to education, knowledge development and professional advancement, noting that Governor Bago would serve as the Host and Special Guest of Honour at the official opening ceremony of the conference at the Siyyam International Conference Centre, Minna.
The NLA President commended the administration’s investment in education and its continued support for initiatives aimed at promoting literacy, research and access to knowledge.
Responding on behalf of the governor, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to advancing education, research, innovation and professional development in line with the New Niger Agenda.
He assured the Association of the government’s readiness to collaborate with professional bodies and institutions whose activities contribute to human capital development and sustainable economic growth.
According to a statement by the Information Officer in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of Niger State, Abubakar Kuta, the state government remains committed to fostering partnerships that strengthen education and support national development.
Also present at the meeting were the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Obed Nuhu Nana, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, other senior government officials and members of the Nigeria Library Association delegation.
