Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth $500 million with the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) to accelerate the development of the state’s solid minerals sector and promote industrial growth.
The agreements were signed during a meeting between the governor and the President and Chief Executive Officer of AFC, Mr. Samaila Zubairu.
Governor Uba Sani said the partnership would support the development of strategic mining sites across Kaduna State and advance the Gidan Waya project to the commercial production stage.
He described the recent discovery of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) and other strategic mineral deposits in the state as a significant milestone with the potential to transform Kaduna’s economy through increased investment, job creation and expanded opportunities for young people.
The governor also welcomed the commendation by the Africa Finance Corporation, Anka Metals and the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) for Kaduna State’s commitment to developing its mineral resources.
According to the organisations, Kaduna is the first state in Nigeria whose state-owned mining company has partnered with the Africa Finance Corporation to develop the solid minerals sector. They also noted that the state is the first to collaborate with the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency from the mineral exploration stage through to project development.
The agreements are expected to strengthen Kaduna State’s efforts to harness its mineral resources, attract private sector investment and position the state as a major hub for mining and industrial development in Nigeria.
