The 24th Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State, Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Patrick A. Atayero, has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Geidam, ahead of his historic pulling-out parade.
The visit, which took place at the minister’s private residence in Kano, was attended by members of the Academy’s senior management, including the Provost, Prof. Salisu Adamu Abdullahi; the Director of Works and Physical Infrastructure, Commissioner of Police (CP) Musa Muhammad; and the Director of Courses and Training, CP Basiran Ishaku Markus.
During the meeting, AIG Atayero briefed the minister on the achievements and institutional reforms recorded during his tenure as the 24th Commandant of the Academy.
He also formally invited Senator Geidam to his pulling-out parade, scheduled for Monday, 27 July 2026, at the Muhammadu Buhari GCFR Parade Ground within the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil.
The ceremony is expected to be the first official pulling-out parade for an outgoing Commandant in the history of the Academy.
AIG Atayero expressed appreciation to the Minister of Police Affairs for his support throughout his tenure, describing Senator Geidam’s contributions to the Academy as significant.
Responding, Senator Geidam congratulated the outgoing Commandant on his achievements and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The minister said his support for the Academy was driven by a commitment to strengthening the institution and improving police education in the country.
He assured AIG Atayero of his continued support after retirement, encouraging him to remain engaged with the Academy and the Nigeria Police Force by offering advice and sharing his experience whenever necessary.
The visit reaffirmed the existing collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Police Affairs and the Nigeria Police Academy in advancing professional police training and institutional development.
