Preparations have commenced for the 10th edition of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) National Sports Festival, with Edo State set to host the event from September 14 to 18, 2026, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) said more than 1,500 athletes, officials and invited guests from 42 teams across the country are expected to participate, making it one of the largest editions of the festival.
The championship, NIPOST’s flagship sporting event, aims to promote unity among staff, encourage healthy living, strengthen teamwork and foster friendly competition across the Service. It also serves as a platform for discovering sporting talent and enhancing camaraderie among participants from different parts of the country.
Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee, Mrs. Edna Edughele, expressed confidence in Edo State’s readiness to host a successful competition. She said the committee is working closely with relevant stakeholders to provide quality facilities, efficient logistics and a hitch-free festival.
The committee held its inaugural meeting to formally kick-start preparations for the games, with members reaffirming their commitment to delivering a successful event.
The 10th NIPOST National Sports Festival is expected to showcase competitive sporting action while promoting sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork and national unity among postal workers.
