The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) has donated medical supplies and nutrition items worth millions of naira to the Kebbi Government to support vulnerable persons across the state.
The donation was disclosed in a statement issued by the North-West Zonal Coordinator of NCFRMI, Armiya’u Shuaibu, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
According to the statement, the intervention is part of a federal humanitarian initiative coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction in collaboration with NCFRMI to improve healthcare access for vulnerable populations.
Shuaibu explained that the donation follows the earlier flag-off of the distribution of relief materials to vulnerable persons in selected states, including Kebbi.
He said the consignment comprises pharmaceutical products, 3,600 bags of 4-kilogram Tom Brown nutritional supplements, and 7,413 sachets of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF).
He added that a distribution plan had been developed to ensure the items reach the intended beneficiaries, noting that the medical supplies would be delivered to health facilities across Kebbi North and Kebbi South Senatorial Districts.
The donated medical supplies include Paracetamol syrup, Lonart tablets and suspension, Emvite C, Zolat, Ciprofloxacin, Ampiclox, Ceftriaxone injection, Gentamicin injection, Artesunate injection, intravenous fluids, bandages, syringes, mosquito nets, and multivitamins.
Receiving the items on behalf of the state government, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Health, Samaila Yakubu Augie, commended NCFRMI and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction for the intervention.
He assured that the Ministry of Health would ensure the transparent and equitable distribution of the medical and nutrition supplies in line with the Commission’s guidelines to guarantee that they reach the targeted beneficiaries.
