President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Maryam Ibrahim Dan’Azumi of Gombe State for emerging winner in the women’s category of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’anic Competition in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended Maryam for her outstanding performance and mastery of the Holy Qur’an at the prestigious competition held in Makkah.

Maryam defeated competitors from 132 countries to win the top prize of 300,000 Saudi Riyals, equivalent to about N120 million.
President Tinubu described the achievement as a personal triumph and a source of national pride, noting that Maryam had placed Nigeria prominently on the global stage through her exceptional Qur’anic scholarship.

He also celebrated Maryam’s elder sister, Hajara Ibrahim Dan’Azumi, who won a similar international Qur’anic competition in Jordan in 2024, describing both sisters as inspiring examples for young Nigerians.
The President commended their parents, teachers and mentors for the sacrifices, discipline and commitment that contributed to the sisters’ remarkable achievements.
He further appreciated the organisers and authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for providing an international platform that promotes excellence in Qur’anic memorisation, recitation, understanding and scholarship.

Maryam’s winning category involved memorisation of the entire Holy Qur’an, recitation, Tajweed and interpretation of all 60 Hizb with Tafsir, making her victory a remarkable achievement that has brought honour to Nigeria.
