Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reiterated his administration’s determination to establish a Polytechnic in Gaya Local Government of Kano State.
This is part of deliberate efforts to expand access to technical and vocational education in line with the state’s manpower development agenda.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf made this known while flagging off the second batch of the 1,001 Foreign and Domestic Postgraduate Scholarship Programme at the Government House, Kano.
The Governor explained that the decision to establish the Polytechnic in Gaya is a strategic move to strengthen technical and vocational education, acknowledging the vital role of skills acquisition and innovation in job creation and economic growth.
He noted that the institution, when operational, will provide opportunities for young people in Gaya and neighbouring communities to acquire quality education and practical training that will empower them to secure decent employment or venture into entrepreneurship.

Governor Yusuf further stated that the Polytechnic will also serve as a centre for artisans and craftsmen to enhance their technical abilities and obtain formal qualifications, thereby contributing to the state’s socio-economic advancement.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the State Government to ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed for the smooth take-off of the institution within the shortest possible time.
The Governor expressed confidence that the establishment of the Gaya Polytechnic will have a significant impact on the local economy by creating jobs, stimulating business activities, reducing rural-urban migration, and promoting inclusive development across the region.
