The Emir of Rano, Muhammad Autan Bawo, has urged the Rano Local Government Council to provide an alternative trading location for vendors operating around Rano General Hospital.
This became necessary due to the increasing cases of road congestion and frequent accidents in the area
The monarch made the call during his traditional Sallah homage visit to the council secretariat as part of activities marking Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
The Emir noted that residents of the Rano Emirate and commuters passing through the hospital axis have raised concerns over recurring accidents linked to roadside trading.
He stressed the need for urgent action, recommending the allocation of a designated market space where traders can be relocated away from the hospital vicinity to improve safety and traffic flow.
The Emir also commended Gov Yusuf for supporting emirate councils across Kano State through various developmental projects.
The traditional ruler called on wealthy individuals to support the less privileged and urged parents to prioritize both Islamic and Western education for their children.
Responding, the Chairman of the Area Council, represented by Speaker Ahmad Jibrin, gave assurance that the council would soon deliberate on measures to address the safety challenges near the hospital and implement lasting solutions.
He also disclosed plans for joint security efforts among Rano, Bunkure, and Kibiya local government areas to tackle rising cases of kidnapping and other criminal activities in parts of Kano State.
