The Kwankwasiyya Movement has expressed concern over the pace of ongoing proceedings at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, urging a timely resolution of the legal matter involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, the movement said it remains confident in the integrity, independence, and sense of responsibility of the apex court, but emphasized the urgency surrounding the case.
According to the statement, the current situation has placed the party in a race against time, as electoral processes are governed by strict constitutional and administrative timelines.
It noted that the absence of a clear and final judicial determination is limiting the party’s ability to effectively organize, mobilize, and participate fully in the democratic process.
The movement appealed to the court to take into account not only the legal merits of the case but also its time-sensitive nature, stressing that timely justice is critical, particularly in matters affecting democratic participation and national stability.
It further noted that the Supreme Court has historically demonstrated an understanding that justice must be both fair and prompt, especially in cases with far-reaching political implications.
Reaffirming its trust in the judiciary, the Kwankwasiyya Movement expressed confidence that the court will act in a manner that upholds the integrity of the judicial system while safeguarding Nigeria’s multiparty democracy.
The group also called on its members and supporters to remain calm, united, and committed to lawful and democratic engagement as the legal process continues.
The statement expressed optimism that justice would prevail in a timely and fair manner, in the best interest of the country.
