The Child Protection and Peer Learning Initiative (CPPLI), in partnership with the Life at Best Development Initiative (LABDI), has conducted a two-day refresher training for members of Women Protection Teams (WPT) and Male-Based Support Against Violence Against Women and Girls (MBSAVAWG) in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.
The training, supported by the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF), was aimed at strengthening participants’ knowledge and skills in the prevention and response to violence against women and girls, community-based protection, referral pathways, and the safe identification of protection concerns.
Participants took part in interactive discussions, practical sessions and experience-sharing exercises designed to reinforce their understanding of their roles and responsibilities in promoting the safety and well-being of women, girls and other vulnerable members of their communities.
The programme also highlighted the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding, accountability and community participation in delivering effective protection services.
Organisers said the refresher training has enhanced the capacity of Women Protection Teams and Male-Based Support Against Violence Against Women and Girls members to identify protection concerns, provide appropriate support and referrals, and contribute to creating safer, more inclusive and protective communities in Gubio Local Government Area.
