Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has called on Muslim faithful to intensify prayers for peace in communities affected by insecurity across the state and the country.
The governor made the call when members of the Tijjaniyya and other Islamic groups from different parts of Nigeria converged on the Government House in Birnin Kebbi for an annual Maulud gathering.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Idris reaffirmed his commitment to upholding Islamic values and supporting programmes that promote moral and spiritual development in Kebbi State.
He urged the participants to return to their respective mosques and prayer centres to offer special prayers for peace in areas facing security challenges.
The governor also solicited prayers for the continued progress and development of Kebbi State and Nigeria at large.
Governor Idris expressed optimism that through collective prayers, unity and determination, his administration would overcome the challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Tijjaniyya Group for Mobilisation and Empowerment Initiative of Nigeria in Kebbi, Malam Nazifi Inyas, said the organisation was established to support vulnerable members of society and promote active and responsible political participation.
Inyas noted that Governor Idris had supported the association even before becoming governor and had continued the gesture since assuming office.
