Thousands of sympathisers on Friday attended funeral prayers for eight prominent sons and daughters of the Zazzau Emirate who died in separate circumstances.
The funeral prayers were conducted immediately after the Juma’at prayers at the Zazzau Juma’at Mosque in Zaria and led by the Chief Imam of Zazzau, Malam Dalhatu Kasimu.
The gathering attracted members of the Zazzau Emirate Council, district heads, Islamic scholars, traditional rulers and thousands of sympathisers who came to pay their final respects to the deceased.
The Wazirin Zazzau, Khadi Muhammadu Inuwa Aminu, represented the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, at the funeral.
The Kaduna State Government was represented by a delegation led by the Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, alongside the Commissioners for Environment and Internal Security and Home Affairs.
Also present was the Ciroman Kano, Alhaji Aminu Sanusi Lamido, who represented the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Representatives of traditional rulers from various northern states and other dignitaries also attended the funeral to commiserate with the bereaved families and the Zazzau Emirate.
Among those buried were Khalifa Malam Ghali na Malam Yahuza and three of his sons, who died in a motor accident along Gamagira Road in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Others included Alhaji Yakubu Musa, a brother of the Barden Malaman Zazzau, Alhaji Idris Musa, and Hajiya Amina.
Two other deceased persons were from different locations within Zaria metropolis.
The funeral prayers ended with prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased and strength for their families and the entire Zazzau Emirate to bear the loss.
