Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Isa Umaru, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Maimuna Isa Umaru.
During the visit to the Rano Emirate Palace, the governor described the news of her passing as shocking and painful, noting that the deceased lived an exemplary life as a caring mother and respected figure in the community.
“On behalf of myself, my family, the government, and the people of Kano State, we extend our condolences to you and the entire Rano Emirate and pray that Almighty Allah forgives her shortcomings and grants her Aljannatul Firdaus,” Yusuf said.
The condolence visit was confirmed in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mustapha Muhammad, on Saturday.
The governor explained that he was away on official engagement at the time of her death but had earlier sent two separate delegations to represent him during the funeral and condolence visits. The delegations were led by the Chief of Staff, Dr. Sulaiman Walid Sani, and the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim.
Governor Yusuf was accompanied on the visit by government officials, including commissioners, special advisers, heads of agencies, as well as representatives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both national and state levels.
Responding, the Emir of Rano expressed appreciation to the governor for the visit, describing the relationship between the Kano State Government and the people of Rano as strong and enduring. He also commended the governor’s efforts in promoting unity and executing development projects across the emirate, including water supply, road construction, and market development.
Meanwhile, the governor also visited the family of the late Abdussalam Ginsau, a former Assistant Organising Secretary of the APC in Kano State, who died in Abuja while participating in activities related to the party’s National Convention.
Yusuf described the late Ginsau as a hardworking, honest, and God-fearing individual, praying for his eternal rest and admission into Aljannatul Firdaus.
Speaking during the visit, the Kano State APC Chairman, Haruna Umar Doguwa, said preliminary findings indicated that Ginsau died of natural causes, adding that no foul play was suspected.
Doguwa described the deceased as a dependable ally whose loss would be deeply felt, while offering prayers for the repose of his soul.
Family members and local leaders, including the Chairman of Rano Local Government, Nazir Muhammad Yau, as well as the deceased’s father and village head, expressed gratitude to the governor for his support and show of compassion during their time of grief.
