The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, has inspected the Agency’s Contact Centre and the Trigger Room established at its headquarters in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen emergency response and coordination.
The inspection, was aimed at assessing the operational readiness of the Contact Centre and the progress of work on the Trigger Room.

The facilities are expected to strengthen the real-time receipt, processing and escalation of emergency alerts while facilitating the prompt deployment of appropriate response teams and resources.
During the visit, the Director-General reviewed the operational processes of the Contact Centre, which serves as an interface for receiving and processing emergency alerts and information from members of the public and other sources.

She also inspected the ongoing establishment of the Trigger Room, designed to enhance inter-agency coordination and support the timely mobilisation of relevant stakeholders during disasters and other emergencies.
Mrs. Umar emphasised the need for seamless information flow between the Contact Centre, Trigger Room, Emergency Operations Centre and other operational units of the Agency.
She noted that effective emergency management depends significantly on the speed and accuracy with which credible information is received, analysed and translated into coordinated response actions.

The inspection, according to NEMA, further demonstrates the Director-General’s commitment to strengthening the Agency’s operational systems through technology, improved information management and enhanced inter-agency collaboration.
The initiative is expected to contribute to reducing response times and ensuring that emergency alerts are promptly matched with appropriate interventions.
