The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with the murder of 32-year-old Dahiru Musa.
The suspects, Aliyu Adamu, 22, Mubarak Abdulsalam, 20, and Sadiq Sunusi, 19, were apprehended after a report was filed by the victim’s brother on September 29, 2024.
According to the police, Aliyu Adamu, a close associate of the victim, lured Dahiru Musa to his house under the pretext of negotiating land business.
He then poisoned Musa’s food, and upon discovering he was unconscious, stabbed him to death with the help of Mubarak Abdulsalam.
The suspects later packed the body in a sack and threw it into an uncompleted building near Adamu’s house.
The primary motive behind the murder was to acquire the victim’s landed property, as Adamu was in possession of the land documents.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Mubarak Abdulsalam, who confessed to conspiring with Sadiq Sunusi to burn the victim’s body with petrol to erase evidence.
The three suspects are currently undergoing investigation at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, and will be charged to court for prosecution.
Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, urged Kano State residents to exercise caution when meeting people for business or social engagements, especially in isolated areas, and to always be accompanied by trusted individuals.
This incident highlights the importance of vigilance and safety precautions in everyday life. The swift action by the Kano State Police Command serves as a reassurance of their commitment to justice and public safety.
