The African Health Budget Network (AHBN) has paid an advocacy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KASCHMA), Dr. Rahila Mukhtar, to push for the integration of family planning commodities into the agency’s healthcare benefits package.
The AHBN team was led by Aqibu Hamisu, Advocacy and Accountability Specialist, alongside Sulaiman Umar Jalo, Knowledge Management Officer, and Muhammad Rabiu, Logistics Officer.
During the meeting, the delegation emphasized the need for KASCHMA to expand its current family planning services—presently limited to counseling and testing to include essential commodities that will strengthen reproductive health access for women and families across the state.
Responding, the Executive Secretary appreciated AHBN for its ongoing support and commitment to improving healthcare systems in Kano.
She revealed that KASCHMA has already begun processes toward integrating the commodities, following a detailed assessment by the KASCHMA Capitation Review Committee.
Dr. Mukhtar further explained that once the proposed adjustments to the capitation package receive approval, the agency will be fully equipped to incorporate family planning commodities and further enhance service delivery for its beneficiaries.
