Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu, the Chief Imam of Ilorin and chairman of the Kwara State Council of Ulamaa, has passed away at the age of 75.
The death of the revered Islamic scholar was confirmed on Monday by the Emir of Ilorin. Sheikh Saliu died after decades of dedicated service to Islam and the Ilorin Emirate. His remains are set to be laid to rest according to Islamic rites this morning.
Born in 1950 in Ilorin, Kwara State, Sheikh Saliu devoted his life to Islamic scholarship and religious leadership. He became the 12th Chief Imam of the Ilorin Emirate in 1983, a position he held for over four decades, guiding generations in faith and community development.
He is remembered as a prominent religious leader whose contributions to Islamic education and interfaith harmony in Kwara State earned him widespread respect.
