The Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), Kano State Chapter, has finalised security and logistical arrangements for the Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area State Constituency by-election scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026.
The committee held a strategic meeting at the office of the Co-Chairman, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, to review preparations for the election.

In his remarks, CP Bakori said the Command, in collaboration with other ICCES member agencies, had concluded necessary security arrangements to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process.
He said adequate personnel, intelligence assets and operational resources had been deployed to polling units, collation centres and other strategic locations within Dawakin Kudu LGA.
According to him, the security agencies would work together to protect voters, INEC officials, election materials and other stakeholders before, during and after the election.
The Chairman of ICCES in Kano State and Resident Electoral Commissioner, Amb. Zango Abdu, also assured stakeholders that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had concluded preparations for the by-election.

He said both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials had been prepared, with deployment plans already in place.
The meeting also reviewed intelligence reports, threat assessments, identified flashpoints and areas requiring additional attention.
Members of ICCES drawn from security agencies and other critical stakeholders made recommendations aimed at strengthening inter-agency coordination and rapid response mechanisms.
The committee resolved to intensify joint patrols, monitor social media for misinformation and enforce relevant electoral laws.
The Police Command urged political parties, candidates and their supporters to abide by the rules and shun violence, vote buying and other acts capable of disrupting the electoral process.

Members of the public were also advised to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activities to the nearest security formation or through the Command’s control numbers.
The Command assured residents of Dawakin Kudu LGA of adequate security before, during and after the by-election.
