Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has taken action to address the plight of Kano graduates from Near East University in Cyprus, whose academic certificates were withheld due to unpaid tuition fees during the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
In a statement released on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, it was revealed that Governor Yusuf held a crucial meeting with the university’s management to discuss the release of certificates for students who graduated between 2015 and 2019.

The affected graduates, many of whom studied Medicine and Nursing, have faced career stagnation as they have been unable to practice their professions.
The governor criticized the failure of the previous administration to fulfill its obligations, labeling it a significant disservice to both the students and the state, particularly in the healthcare sector.
“This situation has hindered the dreams and aspirations of our children and deprived Kano State of much-needed skilled professionals. It is shameful that the former administration neglected such a critical responsibility,” Governor Yusuf stated.
