President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, making her the first woman to lead the institution since its establishment in 1962.
The appointment takes effect January 10, 2026, for a four-year term.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President Information and Strategy Mr Bayo Onanuga.

Dr. Odusote, 57, currently serves as the Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus. She will succeed Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose eight-year tenure ends on January 9, 2026.
A distinguished legal scholar, Dr. Odusote obtained her LL.B. degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988.
She holds an LL.M from the same university, specializing in Company and Commercial Law, and earned a PhD in Law from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, with research interests in Public Law and the administration of justice.
Since joining the Nigerian Law School in 2001, Dr. Odusote has served in several leadership roles, including Head of the Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Head of Campus.
She has also been a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University, UK, and has published extensively in local and international law journals.
Throughout her career, Dr. Odusote has actively contributed to legal education in Nigeria, serving on committees of the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Bar Association, and presenting papers at numerous conferences.

As Director-General, she will oversee the academic, administrative, and strategic operations of the Nigerian Law School across all campuses and serve as the main liaison with the Council of Legal Education, the Body of Benchers, and the Nigerian Bar Association.
Her appointment has been hailed as a historic milestone for women in Nigeria’s legal sector.
