The First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Nasir Idris, has extended Christmas goodwill to vulnerable groups in Zuru Emirate with the distribution of food items and cash donations to the less privileged.
The outreach, which covered several communities across the emirate, was carried out on her behalf by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad.
In a goodwill message delivered during the exercise, Hajiya Zainab called on Nigerians to embrace the spirit of love, unity, and peaceful coexistence during the festive season. She also offered prayers for sustained peace and success for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris.
The First Lady explained that the initiative was designed to address micronutrient deficiencies among children, noting that the food items distributed were specially packaged nutritious products aimed at improving the health and well-being of children suffering from malnutrition.
Beneficiaries of the gesture were drawn from Fakai, Zuru, Danko-Wasagu, and Sakaba local government areas.
They included widows of fallen soldiers, wives of retired Army officers, orphans, and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Speaking at the event, the Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo III, alongside the Chairman of Zuru Local Government Area, Muhammad Isa Gajere, expressed appreciation to the First Lady and her husband for the gesture, assuring them of continued support.
They described the intervention as timely and impactful, particularly in addressing malnutrition and providing relief to vulnerable groups during the festive period.
The donations form part of the First Lady’s broader humanitarian efforts to tackle malnutrition and improve the welfare of disadvantaged groups across Kebbi State. Each beneficiary received a bag of rice and a cash gift to celebrate Christmas and the New Year.
