The Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria, has joined the Green Kaduna 2026 Tree Planting Campaign aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and combating the effects of climate change.
The initiative was led by the Chief Executive Officer of Community Actions for Sustainable and Resilient Habitats Initiative (CASH-R Initiative), Arc. Hadiza Abdulazeez Badamasi, who led her team to the hospital for the tree-planting exercise.

The team was received by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Zaria, and the Director of Administration, Barr. Buhari Zailani.
The exercise, according to the organisers, is aimed at reducing air pollution, mitigating flooding and erosion, and improving the environmental conditions within the hospital premises.
Speaking during the exercise, Prof. Zaria thanked the CASH-R Initiative for selecting ABUTH as one of the beneficiaries of the campaign.

He noted that a healthy environment was essential to supporting patients’ recovery and promoting the well-being of healthcare workers.
Also speaking, the Director of Administration, Barr. Zailani, commended Arc. Hadiza Badamasi and her team for the initiative.
He assured the organisation that the hospital would nurture the trees to maturity and urged relevant departments to ensure their proper maintenance.
Barr. Zailani specifically called on the Heads of General Administration, Security and other units responsible for the hospital’s green areas to monitor the trees and provide the necessary care for their growth.

The Green Kaduna 2026 Tree Planting Campaign is designed to increase green spaces across public institutions in Kaduna State and encourage collective action on environmental sustainability.
The campaign also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of trees in improving air quality, preventing environmental degradation and building climate-resilient communities.
