The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has commended Ambassador Hirut Zemene for her dedicated service and contributions to the work of the African Union as she concluded her tenure as Permanent Representative of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
Ambassador Hirut paid a farewell call on the Chairperson following the successful completion of her diplomatic assignment.
During the meeting, Ambassador Hirut expressed appreciation to the African Union Commission for the cooperation and support extended to Ethiopia’s Permanent Mission to the AU and UNECA throughout her tenure.
In his remarks, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf praised Ambassador Hirut’s active engagement and commitment to advancing the objectives of the African Union, as well as her role in strengthening cooperation between Ethiopia and the Commission.
The Chairperson also reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness to deepen collaboration with Ethiopia on issues of strategic importance while maintaining close engagement with the incoming Ethiopian Permanent Representative to the AU and UNECA.
In her final remarks, Ambassador Hirut reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment as a reliable partner of the African Union and expressed confidence that the longstanding partnership between Ethiopia and the African Union Commission would continue to grow stronger in the years ahead.
