Kano State has joined the global community to mark the international day of the girl child with prayers and reflections on the achievements made for the girl child in the state.
Hajiya Aisha Lawan Saji Rano, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children, and Disabled, considers this day special for the girl child.
In a statement signed by the director public enlightenment ministry of women affairs Aishatu Haruna made available to newsmen.
The statement pointed out that her ministry serves as the primary channel for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s passion for the girl child through impactful programs and policies.
She pointed out some notable achievements including, empowerment through Training 500 girls were trained and provided with startup capital of ₦20,000 each, Skills Acquisition where Female children were supported in acquiring skills to make them self reliant as well as support for Vulnerable Girls Full medical, legal, moral, financial, and psychosocial support was provided for assaulted, abused, or raped girl children.

Hajiya Saji assures that more programs are in the pipeline to improve the lives of girl children in Kano, and with the governor’s passion, the future looks promising.
She encourages girl children to reciprocate the government’s gestures by living up to expectations.
The United Nations also recognizes the International Day of the Girl Child, highlighting the need to address challenges girls face and promote empowerment and human rights.
This year’s theme, “Girls’ vision for the future,” conveys the urgency for action and hope driven by girls’ voices and vision.
