    Kano Federal Lawmaker Urges Unity Against Tax Reform Bill

    A federal lawmaker representing Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu constituency, Dr. Mustapha Tijjani Ghali, has urged Northern leaders, men, women and youths to unite against the proposed tax reform bill, warning of its devastating consequences on the region’s development.

    Dr. Ghali who made the call in Kano, believes the bill will have severe consequences for the region’s development and the country as a whole.

    Recall that, few weeks ago the lawmaker says he has reservations for the bills and will oppose them when they come up for debate.

    According to him, northern lawmakers, governors, elders, business men and women, academicians and all relevant stakeholders should put heads together to ensure that the bill is set aside.

    Kano Lawmakers Reject Controversial Tax Reform Bill

    The lawmaker pointed out that, as representatives of the people they will do everything possible to ensure that the Tax reform bills do not see the light of the day.

    Dr. Ghali, who has a background in finance, emphasized that the federal government should prioritize policies that improve citizens’ standard of living before introducing tax reforms.

    He cited countries like the UK, UAE, and Saudi Arabia, which have implemented similar laws successfully, but only after ensuring their citizens’ well-being.

    Albasu Lawmaker Commends KNSG For Adequate Water Supply

    The lawmaker hinted that the federal government should focus more on policies and programs aimed at uplifting the standard of living among its citizens.

    “And I opposed the bill due to its consequences, some countries have adopted such law and it worked for them, but here in Nigeria you have to do something for the people to ensure that are comfortable before introducing tax reforms”

    He explained that the bill for the establishment of a federal medical college Gaya has scaled 3rd reading and will be forwarded to the Senate for necessary legislative action.

    “Others are federal college of Agriculture Albasu and federal medical center Agingi “

    Dr. Ghali maintained that if passed the Bill for the establishment of the medical college Gaya will go a long way in addressing inadequate medical personnel in the area.

    “While the federal college of Agriculture will further boost the capacity of farmers according to the global standard and the federal college center will uplift healthcare delivery to international standard”

    Dr Mustapha appealed to the Kano state government to upgrade the Leventis foundation training school to an Agricultural polytechnic to achieve the desired objectives.

    “I have written a letter to the federal ministry of water resources to establish a Dan in my constituency to enable farmers to engage in all-season farming “
