The Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has advised the Director-General of the National Institute of Public Health and Infectious Diseases (NIPHID), Abdullahi Aminu Dalhatu, to maintain professionalism in the discharge of his duties to enhance the growth and development of the institute.
The Emir gave the advice when the Director-General, accompanied by senior officials of the institute, paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Zaria.
Ambassador Bamalli stressed the importance of dedication and hard work in achieving meaningful progress at the institute.
He also emphasized the need for inclusive leadership, noting that carrying everyone along without discrimination would promote unity, success, and sustainable development.
The monarch further urged the Director-General to prioritise the training and retraining of staff to enhance their competence and efficiency.
He also advised the new NIPHID boss to maintain close supervision of staff activities to ensure effective service delivery.
The Emir called on staff of the institute to support the Director-General through cooperation and constructive advice in order to strengthen the reputation of the institute both within and outside Nigeria.
Earlier in his remarks, the NIPHID Director-General, Dr. Dalhatu, said the visit was to seek the Emir’s blessings and fatherly guidance.
He explained that since assuming office about three months ago, he had conducted a personnel verification exercise to determine the actual number of staff reporting for duty as well as those absent from work.
Dr. Dalhatu also sought the support and collaboration of the Zazzau Emirate in moving the institute forward.
The Director-General was accompanied on the visit by members of the institute’s senior management team.
