Two officials of the Kano State Sports Commission (KSSC) and their driver have escaped death following a road accident while travelling to Kaduna for the Northwest zonal eliminations of the upcoming National Sports Festival in Enugu.

The incident occurred at Tashar Yari, near Zaria in Kaduna State, along the Kano-Kaduna Expressway, approximately 125 kilometres from Kano.
The officials involved in the accident were the Commission’s accountant, a board member, Ismail Falgore, and their driver.
The victims were admitted to a hospital for medical attention and later discharged. They have since returned to Kano for further medical checks and adequate rest.

Speaking on the incident, the Executive Chairman of the KSSC, Alhaji Muhammad Tukur Babangida, thanked Allah for saving the lives of the officials.
Babangida also prayed for continued protection and safety for the state’s contingents participating in the zonal eliminations.
He said the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remained committed to the safety and welfare of Kano athletes, coaches and officials representing the state at sporting events.

Kano is competing alongside Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Jigawa and host state Kaduna in the Northwest zonal eliminations ahead of the National Sports Festival scheduled to take place in Enugu between November and December this year.
The events at the zonal eliminations include football, basketball, volleyball and beach volleyball, among others.
