Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has sworn in Alhaji Garba Hassan Warrah as the new Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development and Mining.
The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Umar Abubakar, presided over by Governor Nasir Idris, at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
The Governor also inaugurated the newly established Kebbi State Mining Development Agency with Abdullahi Buhari Warrah as the Managing Director.

The newly appointed commissioner, Garba Hassan Warrah replaces Alhaji Haliru Aliyu Muhammad Wasagu, who was suspended by the Governor.
Nasir Idris congratulated the new appointees, describing the momentum as a historic occasion, adding that their appointments were based on merit and track record, stressing that his administration would not condone non-performance or laxity from any government official.
He emphasised that the priority of the new commissioner and the agency is to boost revenue generation for the state.
According to him, no government can toy with revenue generation “they know what they expended in securing the mining site in Ngaski and, at the end of the day, there was nothing to write home about,that is why I took action”.

Governor Idris noted that the creation of the Mining Development Agency and the appointment of a competent indigene to lead it were deliberate steps to reposition the sector.
He charged the appointees to deliver tangible results within six months, assuring them of the government’s full support and an enabling environment to succeed.
The Governor said they are going to give the Commissioner every support he needs in order to achieve the desired objectives.
