The Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, has urged the 23 Special Advisers to Governor Nasir Idris to prepare for the political challenges ahead as the country moves closer to the next general elections.
The Commissioner gave the charge during a meeting with the Special Advisers in Zuru, where he emphasised the need for them to remain focused in the face of what he described as increasing misinformation and political propaganda by opposition elements in the state.
According to him, the opposition has resorted to spreading falsehoods and misinformation in a bid to gain political advantage, stressing that government officials must respond by providing accurate information and effectively communicating the administration’s achievements.
Alhaji Yakubu commended the Special Advisers for their dedication and contributions over the past three years and urged them to remain fair, firm and fearless in projecting the policies, programmes and achievements of Governor Nasir Idris.
He disclosed that the advocacy team comprised the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki; the Special Adviser on Communications Strategy, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Zuru; the Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, Alhaji Ibrahim A. Jombali; the Special Adviser on New Media, Alhaji Aliyu Bandado; and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Idris.
The Commissioner said the visit to Zuru marked the first phase of the advocacy tour, adding that the team would subsequently visit the Argungu, Yauri and Gwandu Emirates as part of efforts to engage stakeholders and publicise the achievements of the state government.
