Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has described the medical outreach organised by the World Assembly of Muslim Youths (WAMY) in the state as a significant humanitarian intervention aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of residents.

Governor Idris stated this when he received the WAMY medical team at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, during a courtesy visit.
The team comprises more than 30 medical doctors drawn from different parts of the world who are in Kebbi State to provide free medical services to residents.
The Governor expressed appreciation to WAMY and the Nasara Foundation for selecting Kebbi State for the outreach, saying the programme would provide an opportunity for people, particularly those unable to afford specialised medical care, to access essential treatment and surgical procedures.
He assured the visiting team that the state government would continue to provide an enabling environment for humanitarian and medical interventions.

Governor Idris stressed that his administration remained committed to partnering with WAMY and other organisations on initiatives designed to improve the health and wellbeing of the people.
Earlier, the Executive Director of WAMY, Hisham Muhammad, disclosed that the organisation had deployed a team of medical experts to Kebbi State for a week-long general surgery outreach which commenced on Saturday.
Hisham Muhammad said the medical team, led by general surgeon Dr Abdul Latif Barnawi, comprised specialists from various fields of medicine.
He explained that the outreach would focus mainly on general surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics, as well as paediatric surgery.

According to him, approximately 1,500 patients are expected to benefit from free surgical operations and other medical services during the exercise.
He added that the team would attend to various women’s health and obstetric cases, perform necessary surgeries and provide patients with medications and post-operative care.
