    KNSG Reaffirms Commitment to Adult Education Skills Acquisition

    The Kano State Government KNSG has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the State Agency for Mass Education as part of its ongoing efforts to prioritize education and enhance adult learning across the state.

    The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, made this announcement during the graduation ceremony of 791 students from the Gwarzo Model Women Centre in Gwarzo Local Government Area, Kano State.

    “The Gwarzo Centre, which has been operational for over four decades thanks to the Gwarzo Youths Progressive Association (GYPA), is now graduating 791 students including 486 in skills acquisition,” he stated.

    Deputy Governor Gwarzo highlighted that graduates of the Mass Education Agency have excelled in various fields, becoming doctors, engineers, lecturers, and judges, among other professions, and are making significant contributions to the development of Kano State and the nation.

    He expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the Gwarzo Model Women Centre, noting the productive outcomes of the skill acquisition programs, including the training of 50 youths in phone repair.

    The women have also produced items such as bed sheets, perfumes, vaseline, shoes, and bags, which are expected to promote self-reliance and create employment opportunities.

    Gwarzo urged the graduates to use their newly acquired knowledge and skills wisely to lead prosperous lives both on earth and in the hereafter.

    On his part, Aminu Danazumi Gwarzo, the Zonal Officer of the Kano State Agency for Mass Education in Gwarzo, praised the Deputy Governor for his support in establishing, sustaining, and developing adult education in Gwarzo Local Government Area since 1981.

    He also announced that, for the first time, the Gwarzo Model Women Centre has registered 116 individuals to participate in the 2025 National Examinations Council (NECO) exams.

    Danazumi assured that, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Kano State Agency for Mass Education will receive start-up capital to support the sustainability of skills acquired through the agency.

    Speaking earlier, Malam Surajo Mahe Alkali, the Acting Education Secretary for the Agency for Mass Education , reported that the agency has conducted examinations and awarded certifications to graduates at various educational levels.

    Represented by Mahadi Hassan, the Agency’s Finance Director, Alkali also announced on behalf of the Commissioner, Kano State Ministry for Higher Education, that the agency will soon launch modern vocational training centres in selected LGAs across the state, including Gwarzo.

    Other locations include Kano Municipal (KMC), Dala, Doguwa, and Gwale LGAs. In the Gwarzo Zone, Kabo and Shanono LGAs will benefit from training in 14 vocational skills, including makeup, hairdressing, tailoring, and other trades.

    On his part, Dr. Mani Tsoho, the Interim Management Committee Chairman of Gwarzo LGA, emphasized that the Mass Education Agency has provided education and skill acquisition opportunities to women, youth, and school dropouts, from primary through secondary levels.

    He appealed to the Kano State Government to provide a permanent site for the centre to ensure a more comfortable learning environment.
