The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has commenced a two-day technical meeting to validate its revised 2026 Operational Guidelines as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare governance and improve service delivery under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Kano First Agenda.
The meeting, held at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) of Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital in Kano, brought together departmental directors, heads of units, and technical staff to review the Agency’s operational framework in line with emerging healthcare priorities, national standards, and global best practices.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, the Director of Programme, Dr. Jamila Mustapha, described the review as a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing institutional efficiency and ensuring the Agency continues to provide transparent, effective, and people-centred healthcare services to residents of Kano State.
She said the revised Operational Guidelines would strengthen internal coordination, improve programme implementation, reinforce accountability mechanisms, and provide a clear framework for expanding access to affordable and quality healthcare through the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme.
According to Dr. Jamila, the initiative aligns with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Kano First Agenda, which prioritises strengthening public institutions, improving healthcare financing, expanding access to quality healthcare services, and accelerating progress towards Universal Health Coverage across the state.
She urged participants to make meaningful technical contributions throughout the review process to ensure the validated guidelines reflect current realities, promote operational excellence, and enhance the Agency’s capacity to meet the healthcare needs of the people of Kano.
The opening day featured technical presentations, departmental reviews, and extensive deliberations on key provisions of the revised guidelines, with participants making recommendations aimed at improving operational efficiency, service quality, and institutional performance.
The meeting concluded on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the eHealth Africa Conference Hall, where stakeholders formally adopted the revised 2026 Operational Guidelines to guide the Agency’s operations in delivering sustainable, equitable, and accessible healthcare services across Kano State.
