Officials of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have conducted an inspection of key facilities in Lagos as preparations intensify for the 2026 CAF Awards, one of Africa’s most prestigious football events.
The CAF delegation was received by officials of the Lagos State Sports Commission, who led the team on a tour of the proposed venue and other critical facilities earmarked for the awards ceremony.
The inspection provided an opportunity for CAF officials to assess the level of preparedness and identify areas requiring improvement to ensure the event meets the Confederation’s hosting standards.
The Lagos State Sports Commission said preparations are progressing steadily, with organisers paying close attention to every aspect of planning to deliver a seamless and memorable event.
Officials noted that the inspection forms part of CAF’s final assessment process ahead of the awards ceremony.
The Lagos State Government expressed confidence in its readiness to host the prestigious continental event, reaffirming its commitment to staging a world-class ceremony that will further showcase Nigeria’s capacity to successfully host major international sporting events.
The 2026 CAF Awards are expected to bring together Africa’s top football stars, administrators, and stakeholders to celebrate outstanding achievements and excellence in African football.
