The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kano State Chapter, has called for closer collaboration with the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) to promote ethical journalism, integrity and accountability across the state.
The assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the association to the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Saidu Yahaya, at the Commission’s headquarters in Kano.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairperson of NAWOJ Kano State, Hajia Bahijja Kabara, said the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between the Association and the Commission in advancing transparency and the fight against corruption.
She pledged the association’s support for the Commission’s anti-corruption campaign through responsible journalism and sustained public enlightenment.
Bahijja also appealed to the Commission to organise capacity-building programmes for NAWOJ members and journalism students on media ethics, integrity and anti-corruption, stressing that exposing young journalists to ethical values at an early stage would help build a culture of accountability.
Responding, the Executive Chairman of PCACC, Barrister Saidu Yahaya, welcomed the delegation and commended NAWOJ for its dedication to promoting ethical journalism.
He described women as critical partners in the fight against corruption, noting that they play a vital role in instilling honesty, integrity and accountability within families, workplaces and society.
The Chairman also expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his continued support for institutions promoting transparency, accountability and good governance, saying the administration’s backing has strengthened the Commission’s ability to effectively discharge its mandate.
He urged journalists to uphold the highest standards of professionalism by ensuring fair, accurate, balanced and responsible reporting.

Barrister Yahaya welcomed the proposal for ethics training and assured the Association of the Commission’s readiness to collaborate in promoting ethical journalism, integrity and public accountability in line with the state’s good governance agenda.
