The Federal Government has commended the Super Eagles for their dedication and patriotism, saying Nigeria remains proud of the team despite their defeat in the competition.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, conveyed the message in a statement on behalf of the Federal Government, praising the players for representing the country with pride and dignity.
The minister said that although the outcome of the tournament was not in Nigeria’s favour, the Super Eagles displayed character, teamwork and resilience—qualities that continue to unite and inspire Nigerians.
“Even in defeat, you showed character, teamwork, and resilience, and those qualities matter deeply to the nation you represent,” Idris stated.
He noted that football comes with both victories and setbacks, but stressed that the team’s commitment and fighting spirit throughout the tournament had earned them the respect and gratitude of Nigerians at home and abroad.
According to the minister, the Super Eagles reminded the nation that wearing the green and white jersey symbolises courage, unity and the determination never to give up.
He urged the players to remain focused and united, learn from the experience and return stronger in future competitions.
“Hold your heads high. Nigeria remains proud of you and grateful for the joy and hope you gave us during this competition,” the minister added.
Idris assured the team that the Federal Government and the entire nation would continue to stand firmly behind them.
“The nation stands with you, always,” he affirmed.
