Hon. Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya has emerged as the Acting State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State, following the sacking of the former State Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa.
Abiya’s emergence was endorsed by the NNPP State Executive Committee (EXCO) after an emergency meeting held at the party’s state secretariat in Kano.
Announcing the decision, the party’s Assistant Legal Adviser, Barrister Yusuf Mukhtar, said the appointment was made in accordance with the provisions of the NNPP constitution, stressing that due process was followed.
Party sources disclosed that the development followed the submission of a formal resolution recommending the sacking and expulsion of Dungurawa by the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Executive Committee.
Earlier, the Dawakin Tofa EXCO, led by Hon. Abdullahi Ali Uban Iya Dawanau, transmitted the resolution forwarded by the Gargari Ward Executive Committee to the state leadership of the party.
The resolution was reportedly adopted during the second executive meeting of the Gargari Ward, held two weeks after the general election, where Dungurawa was accused of anti-party activities.
After reviewing the report and accompanying documents, the State EXCO ratified the decision and approved Abiya’s emergence as Acting State Chairman.
Party officials said the move was intended to restore internal discipline, strengthen party unity, and reposition the NNPP ahead of future political activities in Kano State.
