The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has concluded a five-month Accident Investigation and Safety Management Training Programme designed to strengthen the capacity of its investigators and enhance aviation safety standards in Nigeria.
The intensive training was facilitated by the Southern California Safety Institute (SCSI), with investigators receiving advanced instruction and practical exposure in critical areas of accident investigation.

The areas covered included flight data analysis, aviation maintenance, aeromedical investigation, aircraft fire and explosion analysis, as well as accident site safety.

The NSIB expressed appreciation to SCSI and its subject matter experts for providing hands-on training and sharing industry experience with the participating investigators.
The Bureau said the programme would contribute to strengthening its investigative capacity and improving the quality of accident investigation findings and safety recommendations.

It noted that better-trained investigators would lead to more robust investigations, actionable safety recommendations and improved measures for preventing future accidents across the transport sector.
The NSIB reaffirmed its commitment to building professional investigative capacity and strengthening safety systems to protect lives and improve transportation safety in Nigeria.
