The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kebbi State chapter, has expressed satisfaction with the efforts of Governor Nasir Idris in addressing security challenges across the state, passing a vote of confidence on his administration.
The State Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Murtala Usman, made this known in Birnin Kebbi while presenting a letter containing security-related suggestions to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida.
Comrade Usman said the administration of Governor Idris has remained proactive and committed to tackling insecurity, noting that organised labour in Kebbi State is pleased with the measures put in place to safeguard lives and property.
He explained that although the national leadership of the NLC had declared a nationwide protest over prevailing security concerns, the Kebbi State chapter did not participate, citing confidence in the state government’s handling of security matters.
According to him, the sustained efforts of Governor Nasir Idris, with the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, led to the prompt rescue and safe return of the abducted Maga School girls to their families, a development he described as commendable.
Comrade Usman said the letter presented to the state government contained recommendations and suggestions from the NLC national headquarters, aimed at consolidating the gains already recorded in the fight against insecurity.
He further noted that the governor has consistently supported security agencies through the provision of logistics and improved welfare, enabling them to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
The NLC chairman also called on civil servants in the state to remain law-abiding, punctual and dedicated to their duties, stressing that their commitment is essential to supporting the government’s development agenda.
Receiving the letter on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, expressed appreciation to organised labour for acknowledging the efforts of the state government in improving security across Kebbi State.
He assured that the confidence reposed in the administration by the NLC would further motivate the government to sustain and strengthen its efforts towards ensuring a safer and more secure environment for all residents of the state.
