The Kano State Government KNSG has expressed readiness to collaborate with the Federal Fire Service (FFS) in intensifying public awareness on fire safety and prevention across the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this known while receiving the management team of the Federal Fire Service, Kano State Command, during a courtesy visit to his office.

Comrade Waiya assured that the Ministry would provide the necessary platform to support the fire safety campaign through radio and television programmes, emphasising the importance of proactive public enlightenment in preventing fire disasters.
He urged the Federal Fire Service to identify high-risk areas across the state for targeted sensitisation through both traditional and digital media channels.
On staff professional development, the Commissioner pledged the Ministry’s support in ensuring that officers in the Public Relations Unit of the Fire Service are duly registered with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), in line with professional communication standards.

Earlier in his remarks, Deputy Superintendent of Fire and Public Relations Officer, Federal Fire Service, Kano State Command, DSF Alhassan Ahmad, stated that the visit aimed to strengthen collaboration with the Ministry in conducting sensitisation campaigns on fire safety across schools, religious institutions, and traditional communities.
He revealed that the Annual Fire Safety Week, a national event focused on promoting fire safety education, would soon be held in Kano, and sought the Ministry’s assistance in providing logistical support and vehicles to facilitate statewide public enlightenment activities.
DSF Alhassan also appealed for the Ministry’s intervention in facilitating NIPR registration for Public Relations staff to enhance their professionalism and public communication efficiency.
