The Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, CN D.Y. Lawal, has paid familiarization courtesy visits to key law enforcement agencies in Kano State as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
The visits, which took place on December 17, 2025, were to the Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Kano State Command, CIS T.A. Lawal, and the Acting Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kano Zonal Directorate, Mr. Friday S. Ebelo.
Speaking during the visits, CN Lawal said the engagements were aimed at deepening inter-agency cooperation and enhancing coordination among enforcement bodies to effectively tackle substance abuse and drug trafficking across the state.
He emphasized the need for continuous sensitization programmes and regular training for officers to ensure they remain adequately equipped to deliver efficient and professional services to the public.
In his response, the NIS Comptroller, CIS T.A. Lawal, welcomed the NDLEA Commander and commended the initiative, reaffirming the Kano State Command’s commitment to working closely with NDLEA to safeguard Nigeria’s borders and support efforts to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse.
Similarly, the Acting EFCC Zonal Director, Mr. Friday S. Ebelo, assured the NDLEA of the commission’s continued support, pledging to collaborate with other security and enforcement agencies to promote a safer Kano State.
Both the NIS and EFCC leadership reiterated their readiness to support NDLEA programmes and operations, stressing the importance of sustained cooperation to enhance public safety and reduce drug-related crimes in Kano State.
