The newly elected President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Abdulmudallib Kalli Sharif, popularly known as Sir Kalli, has pledged to make students’ welfare the top priority of his administration.
Sir Kalli gave the assurance shortly after the official release of the SUG election results.
He said his leadership would be driven by commitment, responsibility, and dedication to improving the overall wellbeing of students across the university.
Expressing gratitude to the BUK student community for the confidence reposed in him, Sir Kalli promised a responsive and people-oriented administration, assuring students that their trust would not be misplaced.
The SUG presidential election was keenly contested, with Sir Kalli polling 4,153 votes to defeat his closest rival, Captain Sidi Nasir, who garnered 2,808 votes.
In other results, Arafat Yakubu Onono won her election after narrowly defeating Khadijat Mama Jibril. Onono secured 3,871 votes, while Mama Jibril polled 3,400 votes.
For the position of Secretary-General, Hamisu Abdussamad recorded a landslide victory with 4,825 votes, defeating Haruna Sani Nura, who scored 2,208 votes.
A total of 8,577 votes were cast during the e-voting exercise, which was widely described as peaceful, transparent, and credible.
