Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has called for unity, cooperation, and responsible leadership among traditional institutions and community stakeholders following visits by delegations from Batsari and Kusada Local Government Areas to Government House.
The Governor made the appeal while receiving district heads and community representatives after the conferment of traditional titles by the Katsina Emirate Council.
Governor Radda congratulated the newly appointed title holders, including the Bebejin Katsina and the Sarkin Ruma of Batsari, describing traditional titles as sacred responsibilities that must be exercised with humility, wisdom, and fairness.
“Traditional titles are not symbols of privilege alone; they are sacred trusts that demand humility, justice, and service to the people. Those entrusted with these responsibilities must lead with fairness, compassion, and a deep sense of duty,” the Governor said.
He urged communities in Kusada and Batsari to support their traditional leaders, stressing that unity among families, elders, and stakeholders is essential for peace, stability, and development.
“Peace and progress can only thrive where there is unity. Families, elders, and community leaders must stand together to support the traditional institution,” he added.
The Governor advised the new title holders to work closely with senior elders and respected figures in their communities, noting that experience remains a vital guide in leadership.
Governor Radda also paid tribute to the late Sarkin Ruma of Batsari, describing him as a courageous leader who stood firmly with his people during periods of insecurity. He said he personally regarded the late traditional ruler as a father figure.
“He was a brave and committed leader who remained close to his people in difficult times. His legacy of courage and sacrifice must be preserved,” the Governor stated.
He commended the family for maintaining unity during the succession process and urged the new Sarkin Ruma to emulate his father’s example by serving sincerely and protecting community interests.
Governor Radda further appreciated the Katsina Emirate Council for conducting a peaceful and dignified conferment process, which he said reflects the strength of the state’s traditional institutions.
Speaking earlier, Chairman of Batsari Local Government, Hon. Mannir Mu’azu, said the delegation visited to express gratitude to the Governor and the traditional institution for the selection and confirmation of the new District Head. He noted that the decision enjoyed broad support from elders, community leaders, and the business community.
Mu’azu also disclosed that Batsari had witnessed significant security improvements, with several bandits surrendering and embracing peace agreements.
“We have recorded about seven months without major attacks, and economic and social activities are gradually returning to normal. Our people remain firmly behind the Governor’s leadership,” he said.
Similarly, Chairman of Kusada Local Government, Hon. Sani Aminu Dan Gamau, thanked the Governor for his continued support to the area. He said their visit was guided by cultural and Islamic teachings that encourage gratitude for good leadership.
He commended the Katsina Emir for approving the conferment of the Bebejin Kusada title on the son of the late holder, noting that the decision restored stability within the traditional institution.
“The decision has brought peace, stability, and renewed confidence among our people,” he said, assuring the Governor of continued cooperation and support for economic growth and social stability.
Those in attendance included the Deputy Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal; Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari; Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; and members of the State Executive Council.
