Centre for Girls’ Education (CGE), Zaria, has convened a one-day stakeholders’ meeting with traditional and religious leaders to review the achievements and impact of its Pathways to Choice Learning to Scale Project.
The meeting, held at the CGE Conference Hall in GRA Sabon Gari, Zaria, brought together key community leaders from 40 communities across Makarfi, Giwa, Sabon Gari and Zaria Local Government Areas.
In her welcome address, the Project Coordinator, Malama Alawiya Abdullahi, highlighted the need for sustained collaboration from traditional rulers, religious leaders and parents to advance the education of adolescent girls.
She explained that the project is designed to equip girls aged 11 to 16 particularly those who are out of school or have dropped out with essential literacy and numeracy skills to improve their learning outcomes and life opportunities.
Alawiyya noted that the meeting marked the fourth stakeholder engagement organized by the Centre to evaluate progress, address challenges and deepen community ownership of the initiative.
She urged traditional rulers and Imams to intensify community sensitization efforts, encouraging parents to support their daughters’ access to quality education.
Participants at the meeting shared feedback and engaged in group discussions facilitated by project officials. Several stakeholders commended the initiative, citing its positive impact in expanding educational opportunities for girls within their communities.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to strengthen collaboration in promoting girls’ education and ensuring the sustainability of the Pathways to Choice project across the benefiting communities.
