Benford International School in Abuja is gearing up for its much-anticipated Inter-House Sports competition, alongside the launch of its “Play, Swim and Grow” fundraising campaign.
Preparations have intensified in recent weeks, with students undergoing rigorous training, rehearsals, and selection heats across various sporting activities. The school premises have been buzzing with energy as pupils fine-tune their skills ahead of the major event.
The competition is scheduled to hold on March 28, 2026, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, starting from 9:00 a.m. The event is expected to attract students, parents, alumni, staff, invited schools, youth organisations, and other distinguished guests.
Activities lined up for the day include a colourful march-past featuring competing houses, youth groups, and guest schools, as well as track and field events and novelty races designed to entertain and engage participants.
A major highlight of the event will be the official launch of the “Play, Swim and Grow” campaign, an initiative aimed at raising funds for modern playground equipment and the construction of a standard swimming pool within the school.
Speaking ahead of the event, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Benaoyagha Okoyen, said the level of preparation among students reflects strong enthusiasm and commitment.
He noted that weeks of intensive rehearsals and competitions have not only prepared students for the games but also helped build essential life skills such as discipline, resilience, and teamwork.
According to him, participation has been inclusive, with every student actively involved in at least one activity, whether in field events, track competitions, or coordinated displays like calisthenics.
On the fundraising initiative, Okoyen emphasized the school’s commitment to holistic education, noting that improved recreational facilities would further support students’ physical development and overall well-being.
He called on parents, alumni, corporate organisations, and the general public to support the initiative and attend the event.
The Inter-House Sports competition remains a flagship event for the school, promoting unity, healthy competition, and community spirit—values already evident in the buildup to this year’s edition.
