The Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the constitution of a State Government delegation and committee to oversee the 2026 Hajj exercise.
This was contained in a letter issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, conveying the Governor’s approval for the composition of the delegation tasked with coordinating Hajj operations for the state.
According to the statement, Alhaji Ahmad Jafar Jega has been appointed as Chairman of the committee and Amirul Hajj. The delegation also comprises senior government officials, traditional title holders, and other key stakeholders drawn from across the state.
The committee is mandated to ensure effective coordination of all Hajj-related activities, liaise with relevant agencies, and safeguard the welfare of Kebbi State pilgrims throughout the exercise.
Its terms of reference include ensuring compliance with agreements between the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and airline operators. The committee is also expected to liaise closely with the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency on all operational matters.
Other responsibilities include supervising the overall conduct of the 2026 Hajj exercise and advising the state government on strategies to improve future operations.
The statement further disclosed that Sahabi Boyi Gemu will serve as Secretary of the committee.
