The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has dismantled two illegal alcohol production syndicates in Lagos, seizing counterfeit and adulterated beverages valued at about ₦350 million.
Acting on credible intelligence, NAFDAC enforcement teams raided facilities located at Zamfara Plaza within the Trade Fair Complex and parts of Lagos Island.

During the operation, officials recovered more than 1,800 cartons of fake alcoholic products.

At the Trade Fair Complex, operatives uncovered makeshift production sites equipped with plastic mixing tanks, improvised filtration systems, empty branded bottles, corks, and packaging materials used to produce and package counterfeit drinks.
In a related raid on Lagos Island, a suspect linked to the illegal manufacturing and distribution network was arrested at a retail outlet. All confiscated items have been evacuated for further regulatory action.

NAFDAC warned that consuming adulterated alcoholic beverages poses severe health risks, including poisoning, organ damage, and death.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to prosecuting offenders and urged the public to buy only from authorised vendors and report suspicious activities through its toll-free line.
